We’ll keep it short and sweet – here’s some steps to reset Windows 10 and keep your files and settings.

If your PC isn’t running well, resetting it might fix the problem. Resetting your computer will re-install Windows 10, but did you know it will also give you the option to keep your files.

Here are two ways you can go about in completing the reset of Windows 10.

With both options you need to be sure to select option to “Keep your files” after selecting to do the reset. This is the key step in not losing all your files during the reset.

Option 1 – Reset it in Windows

  1. Select the Start button
  2. Select Settings > Update & security > Recovery
  3. Under Reset this PC select Get started.

Option 2 – Before Login

Still just a few steps but from a different start point.

  1. First, restart your PC to get to the sign-in screen.
  2. Next, press and hold down the Shift key while selecting the Power icon > Restart in the lower-right hand corner of the screen.
  3. After your computer restarts, select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC
