Worldox GX3 installations will require enabling 8dot3 on all volumes to operate properly.

In several instances, such as the integration Worldox, 8.3 file naming must be enabled.

On Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 and above you can do it with this command:

fsutil.exe behavior set disable8dot3 0

0 – Enable 8dot3 name creation on all volumes on the system
1 – Disable 8dot3 name creation on all volumes on the system
2 – Set 8dot3 name creation on a per volume basis
3 – Disable 8dot3 name creation on all volumes except the system volume

To make sure it is disabled you can run this command to check:

fsutil pop over here.exe behavior query disable8dot3

If the 8.3 file name creation is disabled you will see the following output from the command:

The registry state of NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation is 0 (Disable 8dot3 name creation on all volumes).

If configuring a legacy directory it must be converted to 8.3. To do this use the following command from an elevated prompt:
fsutil file setshortname <PathName> <shortname>
